I think gorgeous photos have to be done with passion and not with expensive equipment. But to do great landscape photography your gear has to be reliable also in bad conditions.
To be able to do long hikes with my gear I only carry the most necessary stuff in my f-stop Tilopa BC. I love the Canon 70d body and my Sigma 8-16mm wide-angle lens and I will never go out without the Canon 70-200mm glass. When I don't need a wide-angle or a big zoom I use the Sigma 30mm with a maximum aperture of f1,4 for beautiful soft-focus effects and because of its great magnification ratio. To be more flexible in situations which require this I have a Canon 18-135mm lense. The results it provides in backlight don't satisfy but I like the image stabilizer and the macro mode. To do proper photography I use a 055XPROB Manfrotto tripod which is quite heavy but also solid. For a short trip by plane carrying only hand baggage I prefer the MKC3-H01 with a ballhead formed like a pistol grip, also from Manfrotto. To be right in place for a sunrise hikes by night are necessary. To lighten the dark I prefer a strong flashlight and a headlamp (LED Lenser P14 / Black Diamond Spot)..
Sometimes I still carry an older body and a sigma 10-20 mm with me, so I can do pictures and collect feedstock for timelapse movies at once.
I don't own any grey filters except a 10 stop nd-filter to do long exposures by day. To capture a wide dynamic range in one picture I shoot several photos with different exposure time and blend them digitally with Photoshop by using luminosity masks.
Ich bin der Meinung, dass großartige Fotos mit Leidenschaft und nicht mit teurem Equipment gemacht werden. Aber trotzdem muss die Ausrüstung auch schlechten Bedingungen trotzen können.
Für lange Wanderungen mit Ausstattung, nehme ich in meinen f-stop Tilopa BC nur das nötigste mit. Hierzu gehört die Canon 70d und ich liebe das Sigma 8-16 mm. Außerdem würde ich nie ohne das Canon 70-200 mm auf Tour gehen. Für den mittleren Brennweitenbereich habe ich ein Sigma 30 mm mit einer Offenblende von f1,4 mit welchem man Motive sehr gut freistellen kann und welches eine tolle Abbildungsleistung hat. Um in manchen Situationen flexibler zu sein nutze ich das Canon 18-135 mm. Es liefert zwar bei Gegenlicht keine zufriedenstellende Ergebnisse aber ich schätze den Bildstabilisator und den Makromodus. Meistens nutze ich mein schweres aber stabiles 055XPROB Stativ von Manfrotto. Wenn ich auf Flugreisen nur mit Handgepäck unterwegs bin oder wenn ich sehr mobil sein muss, nutze ich das MKC3-H01 mit Kugelkopf und Revolvergriff, ebenfalls von Manfrotto. Für Durchblick bei Dunkelheit sorgt eine starke Taschen- und eine Stirnlampe (LED Lenser P14 / Black Diamond Spot).
Manchmal habe ich noch eine ältere Kamera und ein Sigma 10-20 mm dabei, so dass ich neben dem Fotografieren Ausgangsmaterial für Timlapse-Videos aufzeichnen kann.
Außer einem 10 Stop Neutraldichtefilter um Langzeitbelichtungen am Tag machen zu können besitze ich keine weiteren Filter. Ich ziehe es vor eine Belichtungsreihe zu speichern und diese später am Computer mit Luminosity Masken zu einem Bild zu kombinieren.
